Sunset Dua
In this evening, my wrongdoing is taking shelter in Your pardon,
my sins are taking shelter in Your forgiveness,
my fear is taking shelter in Your security,
my humility is taking shelter in Your dignity,
my poverty is taking shelter in Your richness,
and my mortal face is taking shelter in Your Face, the Undying and Perpetual.
O Allah, (please) dress me with Your wellbeing,
cover me with Your mercy,
overshadow me with Your honoring,
and protect me against the evils of Your creatures—jinn and men.
O Allah! O All-beneficent! O All-merciful!
Another supplication to be said at sunset is the following:
O He Who has sealed the Prophethood with Muhammad,
Allah may bless him and his Household,
(please) seal with goodness this day of mine,
this month of mine,
this year of mine,
and my entire lifetime.
You may say the words of professing that there is no god save Allah and the words of seeking His protection, which will be mentioned in the coming chapter about the supplications in mornings and evenings. You may then put your hand on the head and pass it over your face. You may then hold your beard and say the following
I include myself, my family,
my property, and my sons,
both the absent and the present
with Allah save Whom there is no god,
the Knower of the unseen and the seen,
the All-beneficent, the All-merciful,
the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting.
Slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep.
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His.
Who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission?
He knows what is before them and what is behind them,
and they cannot comprehend anything out of His knowledge except what He pleases.
His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth,
and the preservation of them both tires Him not,
and He is the Most High, the Great.
