Ya Aliyo Ya Azeem

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Merciful.

يَا عَلِيُّ يَا عَظِيمُ،

O High, O Mighty,

يَا غَفُورُ يَا رَحِيمُ،

O Forgiver, O Merciful,

أَنْتَ الرَّبُّ الْعَظِيمُ

You are the Mighty Lord,

الَّذِي لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

who has none like Him,

وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ،

and He is the All Hearing, the All Seeing.

وَهذَا شَهْرٌ عَظَّمْتَهُ

This is a month which You have made exalted

وَكَرَّمْتَهُ وَشَرَّفْتَهُ

honored, ennobled

وَفَضَّلْتَهُ عَلَى الشُّهُورِ

and excelled over the other months.

وَهُوَ الشَّهْرُ الَّذِي فَرَضْتَ صِيَامَهُ عَلَيَّ،

It is the month in which you have made fasting obligatory on me,

وَهُوَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي

and it is the month of Ramadhan,

أَنْزَلْتَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنَ

in which You sent down the Qur'an,

هُدَىً لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَانِ

a guidance for mankind, having clear signs of guidance and distinction.

وَجَعَلْتَ فِيهِ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ

You have placed in it the night of power

وَجَعَلْتَهَا خَيْراً مِنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ،

and made it better than a thousand months.

فَيَا ذَا الْمَنِّ وَلا يُمَنُّ عَلَيْكَ

O One who favours, and none favours You,

مُنَّ عَلَيَّ بِفَكَاكِ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ النَّارِ

favour me by saving me from the fire,

فِي مَنْ تَمُنُّ عَلَيْهِ

amongst the ones You favour,

وَأَدْخِلْنِي الْجَنَّةَ

and make me enter Heaven,

بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ.

by Your mercy, O the most Merciful.
